I used images taken by NASA's
Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter to piece together this video I called The Half Gigabyte Moon. You have to
watch it in HD on
R3LOAD Network. The 1,300 black-and-white frames were acquired during a two-week period in December 2010 to form a
24,000-pixel-square half-gigabyte mosaic that shows the Moon's nearside as never before. The video was
linked on Slashdot last night. Sweet!
