This is how Beijing looked like during the worst smog of 2016. Video taken yeasterday at 3pm on 21 December 2016 when the AQI hit 440 and the PM2.5 was at 410. The few days of hazardous toxic air has put China on red alert. Red alerts are issued when an air quality index (AQI) is forecast to exceed 200 for more than four days in succession, 300 for more than two days or 500 for at least 24 hours.
Today strong winds started to blow in Beijing and like magic, the smog has disappeared. I can breathe again!
