Time has an incredible 7-page story about Stanley Ann Soetoro, the mother of the new US President Barack Obama. From Time:

On Feb. 2, 1961, several months after they met, Obama's parents got married in Maui, according to divorce records. It was a Thursday. At that point, Ann was three months pregnant with Barack Obama II. Friends did not learn of the wedding until afterward. "Nobody was invited," says Abercrombie. The motivations behind the marriage remain a mystery, even to Obama. "I never probed my mother about the details. Did they decide to get married because she was already pregnant? Little Obama is a movie that just opened in Indonesia, chronicling the time President Barack Obama lived in Indonesia as a boy. In the movie, Obama who wants to be known as Barry and not Baa'ree back then, has to learn how to adapt to life in Indonesia as a young dark coloured Westerner with weird hair and big nose. Oh, he also learns how to fight when he must. Kinda like Karate Kid or in this case, the Boxing Kid. Yup, he is a boxer and plays football too.

Implications of the US election on Singapore

One more day and America will vote for its next President. Who will it be? Barack Obama or John McCain (oh please God, no!)? I'm rooting for my man Obama but what does an Obama victory really mean for Singaporeans? From The Anti Neo-Democracy Theorist:

For ordinary Singaporeans, the victory would inspire those who seek political change in Singapore to push for an agenda that is based a lot more on rhetoric of hope, bipartisanship and rhetoric. The lack of inspiration by opposition politicans is not the issue in Singapore, but rather the absence of a suave, intelligent and dedicated person behind the fierce rhetoric could be the issue for some. Ironically, the WP would probably be the party to step into the shoes of a potential obama, although the SDP would continue to broaden its niche within Singapore society to try to win power.

Obama PC now selling in Taiwan

Taiwanese company Seed is now selling its Obama PC, obviously named after US President Barack Obama. But unlike the President, there's nothing inspiring about the Obama PC which is a basic nettop with an Intel Atom 230 processor, 2GB of memory, a 500 GB hard drive and DVD burner.

Iconic Obama image is copyrighted says AP

You have seen the iconic Obama poster designed by Shepard Fairey. Now AP is claming copyright to the image of Obama that was used in the poster and demands credit and compensation. From Yahoo News:

"The Associated Press has determined that the photograph used in the poster is an AP photo and that its use required permission," the AP's director of media relations, Paul Colford, said in a statement.

"AP safeguards its assets and looks at these events on a case-by-case basis. We have reached out to Mr. Fairey's attorney and are in discussions. We hope for an amicable solution."

"We believe fair use protects Shepard's right to do what he did here," says Fairey's attorney, Anthony Falzone, executive director of the Fair Use Project at Stanford University and a lecturer at the Stanford Law School. "It wouldn't be appropriate to comment beyond that at this time because we are in discussions about this with the AP."

Donald Trump's crazy tweets used in Hitler parody video

Like many people all over the world, I was watching the US Presidential Election results live on TV and also following it on Twitter. When it was announced that Obama had won, Donald Trump went on a Twitter tirade, apparently very unhappy with the result. My first reaction was, why not use his crazy tweets on a Hitler parody video. So here's what I did. Enjoy.

In the video above, Hitler reacts to CNN announcing Barack Obama has won the US Presidential election beating Mitt Romney. Featuring tweets by Donald Trump! This video is a parody of Downfall, a 2004 drama film directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, depicting the final ten days of Adolf Hitler's reign of Nazi Germany in 1945.

Singapore to get 7.2 magnitude earthquake in January 2010

Crazy white dude delivers a message to President Obama and the President of Singapore that a large 7.2 magnitude earthquake will happen in Singapore sometime this month. Watch the video above.
