Jade Seah admits to saying the F word

Some of you wondered if it was Jade Seah or someone else who uttered "fark" on Channel 5 during the Olympics broadcast. If you missed it, watch the video (the extended version) here. Well, Mediacorp has just admitted that it was indeed Jade Seah and she will not be replaced. From Asiaone:
In an e-mail reply to my paper, Mr Kenneth Liang, executive vice-president (TV Programming & Production, Channel 5), MediaCorp TV, said: 'MediaCorp Channel 5 has investigated and confirms that there was an unintentional utterance by the presenter off-camera.'

He explained that there was a delay in switching off Seah's microphone after she had delivered her lines, and it caught her reaction 'to a fluff she had made in pronouncing an athlete's name'.

Mr Liang said: 'We deeply regret the unintentional leakage of the off-air expletive. Measures have been put in place to prevent such occurrences from happening in the future.'

Hmmm, me thinks she might have a nice and close "friend" at the very top.

oh come on.... do not tell me that you did not hear that word from your friends or whoever? it's only the matter it is said thru air or not.... it's understandable that it is not proper to say that word thru that kind of situation but everyone makes mistake and i think she doesn't really purposely did it..... so why not let it past..... not really fair to give up the whole forest just becoz of 1 burning tree

I'll have to say I couldn't hear any F-word despite replaying the youtube clip numerously. Believing that it's her trying to pronounce the athlete's name, I think Mediacorp should not replace her.

Every celebrity has their pros and cons, fans and haters. Bringing her down for something she did not do is like firing her for her haters and something she didn't do wrong.

Yup, let it past.
If she does that again in future, then let it past again.

Like that she will never learn from the lesson. That will be a very bad example to kids.

itz not as though she is the kinda goody goody girl next door kind,so wadz so surprising to hear her say the F-Word?
so the thing is whether she said it publicly or not...well...nowadays, even a kindergarten kid knows that word.
but i do agree that she might have a "close friend" at the top...

As humans, its natural to make mistakes. To those who wants Ms Jade Seah to be replaced, think again. Did you all ever said the F-Word before? It was said to be an unintntentional leakage of the off-air expletive. The word UNITENTIONAL proves strongly that it wasn't meant to be aired. On Ms Jade Seah's side, since she had admitted her guilt of saying the F-Word accidentally, I strongly suggest that we call this case closed as i believe Mediacorp will take this case seriously.

In baseball there are 3 strikes before you are out, in soccer there is a yellow card before the red and Jade"s expletive was not meant to be on air...in a way the fault should be shared between her and the technician...so its a yellow card offense...deserves a warning, then let it past, thats all...what more punishment you want for her?? what kind of draconian society you wanna promote to your kids???, one small mistake you asking for blood??

And Pls lah, what bad example?? you mean your kids hear the word fuck will go out fucking, drinking and smoke marijuana???...please spare me your ancient tortoise logic...

and i guarantee you, by the time your kid gets into primary school he/she would have heard the word fuck countless times. For all you know, your kids may stumble upon this site and read the word "fuck" here!!...fuck fuck fuck!!!!

The future for Jade Seah however,
is uncertain.

That's what you get when you're in Singapore.

Enough is said.

While a large part of Americans are struggling with important issues like their upcoming elections, war in Iraq, immigration, renewable energy, foreign policy, public education, discrimination, etc etc, here we are in Singapore arguing and bitching about the righteousness of how a random news presenter accidentally uttered the word "fuck" - a word that every sane person will hear at least once a day, if not uttered from his or her own mouth.

Someone even went on to say the handling of this issue is a bad example for our kids. Look, if *your* kids is capable of picking up something bad from this whole mediocre bullshit, perhaps you should think about not reproducing at all.

It sure feels great holding that pink IC, doesn't it?

*smirks*
