Yokai Attack!: The Japanese Monster Survival Guide
Yokai Attack!: The Japanese Monster Survival Guide is a cool book written by the husband and wife team of Hiroko Yoda and Matt Alt and illustrated by Tatsuya Morino, one of Japan's top specialists in yokai themes.
Yokai are Japan's traditional mythical creepy-crawlies. Authors Hiroko Yoda and Matt Alt collected tons of data and descriptions from a variety of sources, including first-hand accounts and microfilms of 18th-century publications stored in the National Diet Library in Tokyo, in order to produce this very first English-language guide to Japan's yokai monsters.
Original illustrations, created by Tatsuya Morino, detail the potential visible appearance of each yokai. And alongside each and every one are data points allowing you to take in each yokai's characteristics at a glance.
The publisher of Yokai Attack!: The Japanese Monster Survival Guide has kindly provided me with two pages of the book that you can see here.
Original sizes of the images can be viewed here and here. Lovely aye? The book is available at Kinokuniya Singapore at only SGD24.50. It is also available on Amazon.
