How fast is your internet connection?
McAfee's Internet Connection Speedometer finds out how fast or slow your internet connection really is. I was trying this out last night at home and was shocked to find out that my SCV Max Online (cable) is only at 60 kbps - that's only slightly faster than a 56k modem! I do know that the speed for cable may be slow at times when there are a lot of users. For example, say your cable offers a maximum download speed of 2Mbps. In actual fact, you are sharing this bandwidth with other subscribers in your neighbourhood. So when there's a heavy usage in your area, the speed of the internet connection may be slower but 60 kbps only? This sucks!

My SCV at home also sucks. Kena cheated all the time leh.
I'm at super fast 1Mbps!!! Woohoooo!!!! See ya!!!!!
If you are using cable at home, the best time to surf is actually in the day when many people are at work.
Starhub Maxonline is lousy. It is slow and down frequently too.
I've experienced this slow speed problem at home too. I'm in Tampines. Some of my friends staying in the east reports slow speeds as well. I've tried calling Starhub once and they said my line is ok and that the problem is due to peak hours.
Cable is inferior to ADSL because of its 'shared' nature.
Could be that a lot of users in your area downloading porn. Kekeke.
This is bullshit: Maxonline 4000 (the standard plan) offers you download speeds of up to 4Mbps (4,000Kbps) and upload speeds of up to 256Kbps. You are lucky if you get 500kbps for the download speed.
For cable, when someone uploads, the download speed will just drop all the way down to 10-20Kbps from 200Kbps. It is not stable.
there is no real winner between starhub or singnet dsl...
each have its own plus and negative pts.
