Sony launches VAIO P, new pocket style PC
Last Thursday, Sony unveiled its new VAIO P "Pocket style PC" to the media and bloggers at an event held at Singapore's National Museum. Here's a video of the Sony models doing the catwalk with the new VAIO P notebooks.
The VAIO P is an 8-inch full-featured notebook PC that is only 19.8 mm in thickness and weighs 594 g - slim, compact and light enough to fit into the back pocket of your pair of jeans! It has a full size keyboard with isolated keys, 1,600 x 768 LED backlit ultra-wide display, built-in Motion Eye webcam, noise-cancelling technology/headphones (only on the VGN-P15G), built-in wireless LAN 802.11b/g/Draft n and Bluetooth.
There's also an Instant Mode and Window Arrangement Utility. Instant Mode directly launches into Sony’s Xross Media Bar interface for quick boot up and access to music, video, photos and the Web. Window Arrangement Utility lets you organise multiple windows in an instant.
You can buy the VAIO P in Singapore from mid Feb 2009 with prices starting from $1,299. It comes in four colours: Garnet Red, Olivine Green, Obsidian Black and Crystal White. View all the photos taken at the VAIO P launch here.
Update: Sony has just informed me that the VAIO P demonstrations units are already at all Sony Style shop fronts across Singapore as well as the 3 VAIO Pro shops at Juzz1 (Level 3 Funan), V3 (Level 2 Sim Lim) and MC2 (Suntec City Lifestyle Mall). The public can visit these outlets to get a hands-on with the units and pre-order if they like at any Sony authorized dealers. Pre-order for the VAIO P will end on 8th Feb. Shipping starts mid Feb. Attractive freebies are bundled with the pre-orders while stocks last.
Update: Sony Singapore's Richardson Lau demos the Sony Vaio P. Watch the video here.
