Watch this documentary on Kampong Buangkok before the village disappears
This short documentary produced by Retrospect Pictures in 2007, tells the charming story of Singapore's very own secret eden, its last rural village called Kampong Lorong Buangkok. Watch part one above and here are parts two and three of the documentary. Despite being surrounded by concrete housing all around in modern-day Singapore, Kampong Lorong Buangkok fiercely retains its traditional roots, evident in the rustic wooden huts and strong 'kampong spirit' reflected by the older residents. But soon, this village will disappear as the government is preparing to buy the land and the residents will be relocated. It's such a pity.
