Top 10 guitar solos

Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven has been named as the best guitar solo of all time by Total Guitar magazine. Van Halen's Eruption and Guns n' Roses' Paradise City are also in the top 3. More than 2000 readers of Total Guitar magazine voted in the poll.

I'm glad that my favourite band, Guns n' Roses are in the top 3 but Paradise City? Surely, Sweet Child O' Mine would be a better choice. I reckon more people recognise the guitar parts of Sweet Child than any other rock songs out there.

Here's the Total Guitar top 10 guitar solos of all time list. I've also included links to the music videos found on You Tube.

01. LED ZEPPELIN – Stairway to Heaven
02. VAN HALEN - Eruption
03. GUNS N' ROSES - Paradise City
04. THE EAGLES - Hotel California
05. METALLICA - Enter Sandman
06. CREAM - Crossroads
07. JIMI HENDRIX - Voodoo Child
08. OZZY OSBOURNE - Crazy Train
09. FREE - All Right Now
10. QUEEN - Bohemian Rhapsody

I doubt that anybody out there reading this blog has ever seen "Hendrix in Berkeley." I have and it's an amazing documentary shot by somebody on shaky film, and put out on movies for a few months, and then disappeared.

And I saw Hendrix in San Bernardino in 1969 at Swing Auditorium, during my high school days. He was totally stoned and screwed up, they had to lead him out to the stage and microphone, and they he played like the God that he has always been. Amazing.

He opened for the Monkeys.

maybe cos Sweet Child is too easy. It's a warmup routine for Slash before it became the song.

Sweet Child should be in.
