History of Dutch Comics
Lambiek.net has a good write-up on the history of Dutch comics. Did you know that the German invasion and occupation of Holland during World War II had a big impact on Dutch comics? All Dutch comic artists had to join a "Chamber of Culture" which forbids them from criticizing or ridiculing the German regime. American comics were also prohibited in Holland during that period.
